Education
Education is the belief in our future humanity. If we don't believe in the dreams of our future, there is no reason to prepare ourselves to meet the challenge! That is why we provide educational services that meet the educational needs of the Latino community.
Post-secondary Education The Community Council of Idaho is preparing our youth through several programs:
Scholarships for Latino College Students
Collaborative Programs with colleges & universities
TRIO and other early identification programs
The Idaho Hispanic Youth Symposium
Youth Development Programs for at-risk youth
Employment & Training
Our employment and training efforts funded by the U.S. Department of Labor/National Farmworker Jobs Program, better the lives of low-income individuals and families, and advocate for migrant and seasonal farmworkers. We provide a broad range of employment assistance focused on the unique needs of Idaho's Latino communities:
Direct Employment Placement
On-the-Job Training
Institutional/Job Skills Training
Adult & Youth Work Experience
Employment & Training along with community partners, seeks to promote and encourage advocacy for farmworkers and families living in poverty, foster participation by parents and youth in school and other community events, promote and encourage diversity in the workplace and within the community.
Youth Development & Employment Opportunities for Latino Youth
In partnerships with government, educational and private foundations, we are able to provide services to migrant & seasonal farmworkers, low-income individuals, and other rural populations in need of employment assistance.
The Community Council of Idaho's Employment & Training service-area extends across southern Idaho. Resident and migrant Hispanic farm workers in our service area face barriers that must be resolved if they are to improve their economic status. We work to solve the underlying issues that our clients must overcome to be successful employees, such as:
Language & Basic skills deficiencies (reading, writing, math)
Lack of academic preparation for professional or paraprofessional occupations
Lack of occupational skills for upward mobility in agricultural occupations or to compete successfully for non-agricultural jobs openings
Lack of work history
Lack of resources
Lack of access to worker's benefits in Idaho including health insurance
Lack of safe and reliable public transportation
Lack of access to child-care
Limited or inaccessible medical-care
Community & Emergency Services
And through our Supportive Services Program, we provide emergency support to families and individuals in need of crisis intervention. Our regional centers are equipped to provide food boxes, emergency referrals, emergency transportation, coordinate medical & dental services, and support to meet rent & utilities problems.
It is our goal to provide for short-term emergency needs while enabling long-term visions of success!
